These aren’t your grandfather’s false teeth! It’s o.k. to smile again with lightweight, more natural looking dentures. If you’ve lost some or all of your teeth from injury, gum disease or decay, replacing these teeth doesn’t need to be a strain on your budget. In fact, your appearance, overall health and well being will be improved. Your youthful confidence can be restored and maybe your job prospects and love life can improve as well.

The different types of dentures we offer:

  • Conventional or Permanent Dentures – A full top, bottom or both set of dentures is custom fitted to your mouth. They are removal, but the dentures themselves are considered permanent. You may also choose an option to have permanent dentures installed with implants. The implants anchor the dentures to your jawbone and help keep the dentures in place.
  • Immediate or Temporary Dentures – This is a temporary solution as we prepare your mouth for permanent dentures. You may have remaining teeth that need to be pulled, and your jaw needs to heal before we fit you for your permanent watches first copy in taxes set.   • Overdenture or Partial – If you still have some healthy, natural teeth, a denture can be made to fit around them, using the natural teeth as an anchor. Your dentures are matched to the color and shape of your own teeth and gums for a very natural look and feel.

What to expect:

Many times, the preparation for your dentures includes the removal of several teeth. This is at an additional cost and can be done over several visits. X-rays and impressions will be taken of any remaining teeth and gums so our lab can create a temporary denture that will fit you while your gums and jaw are healing.

These temporary dentures may loose or uncomfortable for a few weeks while you get used to them. Discomfort can range from excess saliva flow (drooling) to pain and irritation. Eventually, the muscles in your mouth will adjust to help you keep them in place. You will need to come in for several visits to make adjustments as your mouth heals and gets used to the device.

After several months or a year, your dentist will determine when your mouth is ready to accept a more permanent device. The look and feel of the conventional denture is more sturdy and aesthetically pleasing. You will come in for a final fitting, and your permanent dentures should be ready in a week or click reference two. Even if you have no natural teeth left, you will still need to brush your gums, tongue and roof of your mouth with a soft toothbrush. This stimulates circulation and helps keep the gums healthy.

You also need to clean and brush your dentures on a daily basis.

  • Rinse, to get rid of food particles
  • Use a soft toothbrush to gently brush all surfaces of your dentures.
  • Check the inside of your mouth, gums and tongues in the mirror to make sure you don’t have redness or sores. This is especially important if you have diabetes, loss of sensitivity may hide serious issues.
  • If you don’t have your dentures in, keep them in water so they don’t dry out, crack and warp. You may also soak them in a cleaner to remove stains.
  • You may need to use adhesives to help hold your dentures in place. They come in powders, gels, and linings. You will need to experiment with which option works best for you. Ask your dentist is he has samples for you to try.

Even if you don’t have any teeth left, proper care and follow up visits to your dentist are important. Dentures may require adjustments over the years as you age, so you will need to have regular appointments.
